Dr. Ken Hoffman has been practicing in addiction medicine, psychiatry, and public health since beginning his professional medical career in the US Army in the 1980s. His primary interest throughout has been on improving healthcare systems that provide a continuum of preventive and treatment services to improve both individual and population health. While on active duty, Dr. Hoffman was the Army Surgeon General’s alcohol and drug medical consultant. He currently serves on the Oxford House Board of Directors and maintains a consulting practice. In 2017, Dr. Hoffman was in Tanzania as a consultant helping establish an addiction treatment center where community service organizations, peer educators, and families were fully integrated into addiction treatment.

A graduate of Cornell University, Dr. Hoffman received his MD degree from Eastern Virginia Medical School and MPH from Harvard University School of Public Health. He completed psychiatric and public health residencies at Tripler and Madigan Army Medical Centers. As a faculty member at the Uniformed Services University, Dr. Hoffman directed a Center for Training and Education in Addiction Medicine and an optimized health model for recovery from addiction.
